Excellent info for mattress cleaning. I was only familiar with dragging the mattress outside for sunshine or ultra-violet rays. My mother would leave mattresses outside all day after a 1/2 day of 4-6 hrs. She would flip it to the other side for the same amount of time. Best freshener yet and works with pillows, and upholstery cushions too.

Thank you for all this great information about cleaning mattresses! I really like your point that mattresses can even be cleaned of mold or mildew if I bring it outside to let the sun do its natural cleansing of the growth. We are hoping to buy a cheap mattress and with that, need to know how to take care of it too.
